We Need A New Direction

We Need A New Direction

As your Member of Provincial Parliament, I believe it is important to keep you updated on the work I am doing on your behalf in York-Simcoe and at Queen’s Park. This newsletter is a snapshot of some of the things I’ve been working on.

When I’m in the Legislature, I often think of York-Simcoe – neighbours and residents of Georgina, Bradford West Gwillimbury, East Gwillimbury, Innisfil and King; busy families trying their best; seniors thinking of the future; businesses in the community; the farmers of the Holland Marsh; and the Chippewa of Georgina Island First Nation. Such diversity, such promise. We all share the common belief that government should work for us – and not the other way around.

We can all agree that “taxes are the price we pay for a civilized society” but in Ontario we are not getting our money’s worth. Taxes, fees and rates are at all-time highs – and so are our deficit and our debt.

Ontario’s government does not have a revenue problem – it has problems of reckless overspending and maladministration. We urgently need to make a major change. We need a Budget that is responsible and sets reasonable goals. We risk losing the essential programs we value and the infrastructure we need most.

We need a new direction.

The PC Caucus wants to serve Ontarians in 2014 and beyond. Only accountable, efficient, outcome-based management will afford the government of tomorrow the compassion and resources to properly serve all Ontarians, from those people most in need, to the most fortunate among us. Government has to be responsive, fair, and trustworthy again.

It is my honour to represent you to the best of my abilities as your MPP. Please contact my office or visit my website for help with any provincial issue. I strive to represent the interests of each and every one of my constituents, regardless of political affiliation.
